This programme also aims to train and produce educators, managers and relevant personnel who are creative, innovative, analytical and knowledgeable to serve society and meet the needs of various sports industry sectors. Upon completing the programme, graduates will be well-positioned to pursue various career paths within the sports industry, including Sports Marketing Manager, Event Coordinator, Sports Sponsorship Executive, Sports Analytics Specialist, Athlete Agent or Manager, Sports Media and Communication Officer and Sports Facility Manager.

Innovative Curriculum
The programme is designed to provide students with the skills and knowledge needed to perform sports management tasks in various sports organisational settings. The curriculum emphasises:
- Core knowledge in general management: Students develop a deep understanding of sports management principles, operation management, and human resource management, especially in the sports industry. They also cover areas such as psychology, injury management and enhancing sports performance through safe and effective exercise and training programmes relevant and applicable to sports activities, associations and management, together with contractual and tortious relationships affecting the sports industry and activities.
- Sport Management: This course is designed to expose students to the fundamental understanding of the management function: planning, organising, leading and controlling resources effectively to accomplish organisational goals. In addition, coverage will be given to ethics, decision-making, environment, human resources and motivation to prepare students for the real sports world.
- Outdoor Recreation Management: Study how to develop the knowledge, skills and interest in outdoor activities. This course focuses on students learning the right techniques and skills for water, land and air-based activities. Students will enhance their competencies in outdoor recreation activities.
- Sport Science: Learn scientific concepts related to exercise. A primary focus of this course is for students to learn sport psychology, the human body system and anatomy, and ergogenic aids in enhancing sports performance. It includes a discussion of the benefits and proper biomechanics of specific sports.
- Sport Event Management: This programme provides students with the fundamentals, practical and managerial approach to conduct and organise sports events. It gives students a comprehensive, managerial and practical introduction to sports event management and also applies the management principles, functions and skills to align with the contemporary sports industry.
- Sports Journalism: Study the concept of writing sports news. A primary focus of this course is for students to learn writing methods in sports news, interviewing strategies and publications. Students will have increased their writing abilities and knowledge of sports journalism, which they will use to write about sports.
- Legal and ethical aspects: Study basic legal concepts related to contracts, intellectual property, and employment laws in the sports industry.
- Internship or practical training: Hands-on experience: Students gain hands-on experience through internships, industry projects, and simulation.

- Sport Management skills: Students are exposed to any combination of skills related to planning, organising, directing, controlling, budgeting, leading, and evaluating within the context of an organisation or department whose primary product or service is related to sport or physical activity.
- Communication skills: Writing clear, professional emails, reports, memos, and letters while maintaining proper tone and formatting. Effective communication with colleagues, clients, and senior managers, including telephone etiquette and face-to-face conversations.
- Human resource management skills: Knowledge of job descriptions, recruitment strategies, and interview processes. Skills for handling employee concerns, promoting a positive work culture, and ability to assist in conducting employee evaluations.

Program Structure
Diploma in Sports Industry Management is a programme designed to equip students with the essential skills and knowledge needed in sport management functions to meet the demands of the rapidly evolving sports industry. This programme prepares graduates to better understand the management process in sports organisations through appropriate procedures and systems. To graduate, students need to complete 90 credit hours.
Entry Requirements
The programme is accessible to a wide range of applicants, with various pathways for admission:
- Pass Malaysian Certificate of Education (Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia – SPM) with at least credit in THREE subjects; OR
- Possesses SKM Level 3 in the related field; OR
- A Certificate (Level 3, MQF) in the related field with at least a CGPA of 2.00; OR
- A pass in Malaysian Higher Certificate of Education (Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia -STPM) with at least grade C (GP 2.0) in any subject; OR
- A pass in Malaysian Higher Religious Certificate of Education (Sijil Tinggi Agama Malaysia -STAM) with at least Grade Maqbul; OR
- Other equivalent qualifications recognised by the Malaysian Government
- For international students, achieve a minimum Band 3 in MUET OR equivalent to CEFR (High B1) **
